Hydraulic Study Bridge Ozeljan

Customer: Slovenian Building and Civil Engineering Institute
Location: Ozeljan, Municipality of Nova Gorica, Slovenia
Project: study, 2014

In collaboration with Building and Civil Engineering institute we have developed hydraulic review of a bridge concrete opening on the road Selo-Nova Gorica (R2-444 / 347 km in 7480). The project also included flood waters hazards and the high waters assessment and their dimensions due to damming up the stream caused by insufficient hydraulic opening or culvert. Culvert hydraulic control is made on the basis of previously calculated flow from the catchment area of Konjščak stream, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the area. To calculate the hydraulic open channel of the main stream the actual characteristics of the terrain and riverbeds were taken into account.
If hydraulic culvert does not meet the statutory requirements set out in aqueous information (Q100 - a hundred years of water and an appropriate safety level) then there is a danger of damming up the stream in case of high water, which could also endanger the stability of the building.
Based on the experience and existing data, it was necessary to check the risk of high waters, insufficient hydraulic opening, vulnerability degree and actual damage incurred to surrounding buildings.
